Knit the city exhibition suggests a participatory performance and a durational

installation.


With papier-mâché knitting needles and crochet hook, it offers a collective knitting

experience. Using our whole body and moving together, we seek various choreographies

of making together. Here, knitting as a metaphor for connection allows us to knit

ourselves behind the needles instead of the thread. The number of people we use the

knitting needles depends on our weight-bearing capacity. With papier-mâché knitting

needles and crochet hook, we knit a special kind of yarn which is made of strips of fabric

stuffed with newspapers. If it is desired to enlarge the knitting, the yarn needs to be

stuffed and sewn by the participants which is a part of the performance
